String Theory are taking a road trip to face off against the Tacony Academy Charter Lions at 3:15 p.m. on Friday. String Theory is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 11.5 runs per game this season.
Things were looking good for String Theory after they put the first run on the board on Thursday, but unfortunately for them things went downhill from there. They fell just short of Philadelphia Academy Charter by a score of 5-4.
Annamae Uhl put in work while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she struck out nine batters over 6.1 innings while giving up just two earned (and three unearned) runs off six hits. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't tossed less than eight strikeouts in three consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-3 with one home run and two runs.
In other batting news, Danica Divincenzo was cooking despite her team's loss, going 2-for-4 with one home run, two runs, and one double.
Meanwhile, Tacony Academy Charter waltzed into their contest on Thursday with five straight wins... but they left with six. They blew past Mariana Bracetti Academy 21-10. The Lions' hitters stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most runs they've scored all season.
Like String Theory, Tacony Academy Charter also got a great game from a two-way player: Jaylene Cruz. She struck out 12 batters over five innings while giving up just two earned (and eight unearned) runs off five hits. Those 12 strikeouts gave Cruz a new career-high. She was also big at the plate, going 2-for-3 with two runs, one stolen base, and two RBI.
In other batting news, Tacony Academy Charter got a massive performance out of Siabrea Berry, who got on base in all four of her plate appearances with one home run, three stolen bases, and three runs. That's the most runs Berry has posted since back in April of 2024. Aniya Askins-Pinkney was another key player, going 2-for-4 with three stolen bases, five RBI, and three runs.
Tacony Academy Charter's victory was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 6-1. Those home wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 15.3 runs over those games. As for String Theory, their loss dropped their record down to 7-7.
Friday's matchup might come down to which pitcher can control the ball better. String Theory has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .480. However, it's not like Tacony Academy Charter struggles in that department as they've averaged .642. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance. Check back here after the action for a full breakdown and analysis of the contest.
