Basketball Recap: Cardinal Mooney Catholic Gets Big Victory over Higher-Ranked University Liggett

After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Sacred Heart Academy, Cardinal Mooney Catholic was happy to have turned things around on Friday. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 74-71 victory over the University Liggett Knights. The win was all the more spectacular given the Cardinals' disadvantage in MaxPreps' Michigan basketball rankings (they are ranked 569th, while the Knights are ranked 262nd).

Cardinal Mooney Catholic's victory bumped their record up to 3-7. As for University Liggett, with the loss, they broke their three-game winning streak and moved their record to 4-4.

Cardinal Mooney Catholic will challenge Shrine Catholic at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for University Liggett, they will look to defend their home court on Wednesday against Bishop Foley at 7:00 p.m.
