Preview: Olentangy Liberty Patriots vs. Clarksville Christian
Olentangy Liberty has enjoyed a three-game homestand but will soon have to dust off their road jerseys. They will face off against Clarksville Christian at 4:30 p.m. on Sunday. Clarksville Christian took a loss in their last matchup and will be looking to turn the tables on Olentangy Liberty, who comes in off a win.
Last Friday, Olentangy Liberty didn't have too much trouble with Dublin Jerome at home as they won 39-24.
Olentangy Liberty's success was spearheaded by the efforts of Claire Mikola, who scored 12 points, and Gigi Bower, who scored nine points along with five rebounds and three steals. Bower also posted two+ blocks for the first time this season. Another player making a difference was Addy Pyles, who scored three points along with two blocks.
Clarksville Christian suffered their biggest loss yet this season on Saturday. They suffered a tough 60-34 defeat at the hands of Africentric Early College. The result shouldn't come as a shock considering that's the fewest points Clarksville Christian has scored all season.
The losing side was boosted by Jayla Smith, who scored two points along with 16 steals. Marley Spiers was another key contributor, scoring seven points along with 13 rebounds and two blocks.
Olentangy Liberty's victory was their fourth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 9-4. As for Clarksville Christian, their defeat dropped their record down to 11-6.
Keep an eye on the arc in Sunday's contest: Olentangy Liberty have made nailing deep shots look easy this year this season, having only averaged 5.2 threes per game. It's a different story for Clarksville Christian, though, as they've been averaging only 4.2 threes per game. Given these competing strengths, it'll be interesting to see how their clash plays out.
