Baseball Game Preview: Monticello Mustangs vs. Goochland Bulldogs

Monticello is preparing for their first region matchup of the season on Tuesday. They will host the Goochland Bulldogs at 6:30 p.m. Monticello is coming into the contest on a six-game losing streak.

Monticello came up short against Boyd County on Thursday, falling 8-1. The match marked the Mustangs' lowest-scoring game so far this season.

Monticello saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Gryfin Costa, who went 1-for-3 with one double and one RBI. That double marked the first that Costa hit this season.

Meanwhile, Goochland didn't have quite enough to beat William Monroe last Tuesday and fell 3-1. The Bulldogs have struggled against the Dragons recently, as the game was their fifth consecutive lost meeting.

Goochland's defeat dropped their record down to 2-2. As for Monticello, their loss dropped their record down to 1-6.

Everything went Monticello's way against Goochland in their previous meeting back in April of 2024, as Monticello made off with a 12-4 victory. Do the Mustangs have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Bulldogs turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
