Baseball Recap: Harvard's Win Ends Seven-Game Losing Streak on the Road

Harvard's game last Tuesday was a loss, but they didn't let that memory haunt them on Thursday. They put the hurt on the St. Edward Green Wave with a sharp 15-1 victory. With that win, the Hornets brought their scoring average up to 7.1 runs per game.

Eltan Powles made a splash no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run and allowing only one hit while striking out seven over six innings pitched. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up a single earned run in three consecutive appearances. He was also stellar in the batter's box, going 4-for-5 with three runs, one triple, and two RBI. Those four hits gave him a new career-high.

In other batting news, Harvard got a massive performance out of Landon Crone, who scored four runs while going 3-for-5. Those three hits gave Crone a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Justin Wheeler, who went 2-for-5 with two runs, one triple, and two RBI.

Harvard was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .528. They are a perfect 3-0 when they post a batting average of .375 or better.

Harvard's victory ended a seven-game drought on the road dating back to last season and puts them at 3-4. As for St. Edward, they are on a six-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-5.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Harvard will square off against Fenton at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday. As for St. Edward, they will take on Walther Christian Academy at 4:30 p.m. on Friday.
