Basketball Game Preview: Fresno Warriors vs. Sunnyside Wildcats

The Fresno Warriors will challenge the Sunnyside Wildcats at 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday. The two teams were dealt some close losses in their previous games and are determined not to let this one get away.

Fresno is probably headed into the match with a chip on their shoulder considering Hoover just ended the team's four-game winning streak on Friday. They fell just short of the Patriots by a score of 48-45. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest defeat the Warriors have suffered since December 4, 2024.

Meanwhile, Sunnyside didn't have quite enough to beat Roosevelt on Friday and fell 67-65. The Wildcats have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Fresno will need focus on slowing down CJ Jones, one of several Sunnyside players who made an impact when they last played. He posted 27 points. The dominant performance gave Jones a new career-high in points. Malachi Barnes was another key player, putting up 18 points.

Sunnyside's loss ended a nine-game streak of wins at home dating back to last season and dropped them to 11-7. As for Fresno, their defeat dropped their record down to 9-8.

Fresno suffered a grim 76-50 defeat to Sunnyside in their previous meeting back in January of 2024. Can Fresno avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
