Preview: Linton-Stockton Miners vs. Owen Valley Patriots
Linton-Stockton is 9-0 against Owen Valley since December of 2014, and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Saturday. The Linton-Stockton Miners will be playing in front of their home fans against the Owen Valley Patriots at 7:30 p.m. Hopefully Linton-Stockton is not getting complacent, as they presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than Owen Valley in Indiana (Linton-Stockton is ranked 136th, while Owen Valley is ranked 312th).
Linton-Stockton posted their closest victory yet this season last Friday. They had just enough and edged Bloomfield out 46-43.
Meanwhile, Owen Valley lost to Clay City at home by a decisive 59-41 margin on Saturday. The loss unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Owen Valley in their matchups with Clay City: they've now lost three in a row.
The loss doesn't tell the whole story though, as several players had good games. One of the most active was Joey Ross, who scored ten points along with two steals. Another player making a difference was Derrek Atkinson, who scored 14 points along with six rebounds.
Linton-Stockton's win was their fourth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 10-4. Those good results were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 62.3 points per game. As for Owen Valley, their defeat dropped their record down to 5-8.
Everything came up roses for Linton-Stockton against Owen Valley when the teams last played back in January of 2023 as the squad secured a 81-48 victory. Does Linton-Stockton have another victory up their sleeve, or will Owen Valley turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
