Basketball Recap: Gulf Breeze Takes a Loss

Gulf Breeze was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their 15th straight loss. They were dealt a 52-19 defeat at the hands of the West Florida Jaguars. The Dolphins were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Jaguars apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in November of 2023.

West Florida's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Amani Bartholomew, who almost dropped a double-double on 14 points and nine boards. Bartholomew also grabbed five steals, which is notable because West Florida is 10-3 when she posts at least five steals, but 2-4 otherwise. Randi Kemp was another key player, putting up six points and six rebounds.

Gulf Breeze's defeat dropped their record down to 1-16. As for West Florida, the victory (which was their fourth in a row) raised their record to 12-7.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Gulf Breeze will host Milton at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday. As for West Florida, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Escambia at 6:00 p.m. on January 14th.
