Softball Game Preview: Ridge Red Devil vs. Caldwell Chiefs

The Ridge Red Devil will venture away from home to face off against the Caldwell Chiefs at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Ridge's hitters haven't had much luck over their past three contests, but Tuesday's matchup will give them a chance to turn things around.

Ridge might be feeling deja-vu: they lost 3-2 to Hunterdon Central, which was the same score (and result) they got the week prior.

Meanwhile, Caldwell gave up the first runs on Saturday, but they didn't let that get them down. They skirted past Gill St. Bernard's 5-3. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win the Chiefs have posted since April 28th.

Alyssa Favata was excellent, going a perfect 3-for-3 with one run, one double, and one RBI. Those three hits gave her a new career-high.

Caldwell was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .385. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Gill St. Bernard's only posted a batting average of .250.

Caldwell has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won 13 of their last 14 games. That's provided a nice bump to their 21-5 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 8.4 runs over those games. As for Ridge, their defeat dropped their record down to 9-11.
