Softball Recap: Lowry Extends Home Winning Streak to Nine

The home team had won the previous two meetings between Lowry and Spring Creek, and Lowry kept the tradition alive. The Buckaroos came out on top against the Spartans by a score of 9-4 on Saturday. The win continues a trend for the Buckaroos in their matchups with the Spartans: they've now won six in a row.

Makinley Hislop was a major factor no matter where she played. She struck out six batters over seven innings while giving up three earned (and one unearned) runs off four hits. Hislop was also big at the plate, going 2-for-4 with four RBI, one run, and one double. Those four RBI gave her a new career-high.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Natalya Guizar, who scored two runs and stole a base while going 2-for-4. Another player making a difference was Liliana Aguilar, who went 2-for-4 with two RBI and one double.

Lowry always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .553. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Spring Creek only posted an OBP of .226.

Lowry pushed their record up to 17-5 with the victory, which was their ninth straight at home dating back to last season. Those home wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.1 runs over those games. As for Spring Creek, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 10-11.

The teams didn't have to wait long for a rematch: Lowry beat the Spartans by a score of 14-12 later that day.
