Basketball Recap: Granger Lancers vs. Kearns Cougars
After flying high against Logan back in December of 2024, Granger came back down to earth. The Granger Lancers had to suffer through a 52-25 loss at the hands of the Kearns Cougars. The Lancers haven't had much luck with the Cougars recently, as the team's come up short the last four times they've met.

Kato Makoni and Hoku Pili certainly did their best on Friday to avoid the loss. Makoni posted seven points and four steals, while Pili scored seven points and six rebounds. Makoni has been hot, having posted two or more steals the last seven times she's played. Dj Barber also deserves some recognition as she posted her first block of the season.
Even though they lost, Granger smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 11 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least ten offensive rebounds in eight consecutive contests.
Lia Benson had an outrageously good game for Kearns as she dropped a double-double on 17 points and 13 boards. Another player making a difference was Marie Angilau-Lea, who dropped a double-double on 12 points and 12 rebounds.
Granger's defeat dropped their record down to 5-9. As for Kearns, the victory got them back to even at 6-6.
Granger has already played their next game, a 66-44 loss against West Jordan on the 14th. As for Kearns, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next matchup, a 53-44 defeat against Taylorsville on the 14th.
