Basketball Recap: St. Joseph's Catholic Comes Up Short

St. Joseph's Catholic saw some tournament action on Friday. They received a blow as they fell 62-47 to the Athens Academy Spartans. The Knights have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

When it comes to explaining why St. Joseph's Catholic lost, don't look at Tiffany Helmer. Despite the final result, she went 7 for 15 on her way to 25 points. That's the most points Helmer has posted since back in December of 2023. The team also got some help courtesy of Lola Kelly, who posted nine points in addition to six assists and four steals.

St. Joseph's Catholic's defeat dropped their record down to 4-3. As for Athens Academy, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 8-2.

St. Joseph's Catholic wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next contest, a 69-65 loss against Woodstock on the 28th. As for Athens Academy, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next matchup, a 51-48 win against Charlotte Catholic on the 28th.
