Softball Recap: Rio Mesa Comes Up Short

Rio Mesa was not able to break out of their rough patch on Saturday as the team picked up their third straight loss. They were two runs away from ending the streak, but they lost a 5-3 heartbreaker at the hands of the Saugus Centurions. The Spartans were not able to make up for their defeat to the Centurions from their previous meeting back in March of 2022.

Keira Barry made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and went 1-for-2 with one home run and one stolen base.

Rio Mesa's loss dropped their record down to 9-5. As for Saugus, the win (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 13-4.

Rio Mesa has already played their next match, a 2-0 victory against Thousand Oaks on the 29th. As for Saugus, they also wasted no time getting back out on the field and have already played their next contest, a 13-1 win against Jurupa Hills on the 29th.
