Basketball Recap: Eastgate Life Academy Comes Up Short

Eastgate Life Academy lost against Friendship Christian back in November and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Tuesday. Eastgate Life Academy fell to the Friendship Christian Spartans 64-60. While losing is never fun, Eastgate Life Academy can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Georgia basketball rankings (they are ranked 476th, while Friendship Christian is ranked 129th).

When it comes to explaining why Eastgate Life Academy lost, don't look at Nate Harbins. Despite the final result, he dropped a double-double on 19 points and 11 rebounds. Harbins has been hot, having posted 16 or more points the last seven times he's played. GABE MOODY was another key player, putting up 17 points.

Eastgate Life Academy has been struggling recently as they've lost six of their last eight matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 4-7 record this season. That patch can't be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 65.6 points per game. As for Friendship Christian, the win (which was their ninth in a row) raised their record to 13-1.

Eastgate Life Academy will get a bit of extra time to process the defeat as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on White Creek Christian Academy at 6:00 p.m. on January 7, 2025. As for Friendship Christian, they will be taking part in a tournament against Promise Prepatory Academy at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday. One thing working in Friendship Christian's favor is that they have posted at least 55 points every time they've taken the court this season.
