Basketball Recap: La Salette Academy Takes a Loss

La Salette Academy has been a dominant force so far, but they're in the middle of a mini-slump at the moment. They were beaten by the Robinson Maroons 77-46 on Wednesday. The Lions lost against the Maroons in their previous head to head back in January of 2021, too, but the margin this time around was even wider than the 47-40 score last time.

La Salette Academy's loss shouldn't obscure the performances of Benedict Blood, who to rack up 14 points and six boards, and Owen Whitehead, who posted ten points. The dominant performance gave Blood a new career-high in rebounds. Andrew Sick was another key player, putting up six points.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Robinson to victory, but perhaps none more so than Ian Gilmore, who on his way to 25 points. Thanks to that strong game, Gilmore now owns an excellent 41.2% three-point shooting accuracy. Another player making a difference was Cruz Dunlap, who en route to 17 points and six boards.

La Salette Academy's defeat dropped their record down to 17-9. As for Robinson, they are on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four contests. That's provided a massive bump to their 5-23 record this season.

La Salette Academy wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next match, a 37-33 loss against St. Mary's Academy on the 21st. As for Robinson, they have also already played their next game, a 77-41 defeat against St. Anthony on the 21st.
