Softball Recap: Cloverleaf Takes a Loss

Cloverleaf couldn't beat Springfield on Monday even though they stacked four runs on them in the seventh inning. The Colts might be feeling deja-vu: they lost 11-8 to the Spartans, which was the same score (and result) they got the week prior. The Colts haven't had much luck with the Spartans recently, as the team has come up short the last seven times they've met.

Kennedy Bailey spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered four earned (and five unearned) runs on nine hits and racked up seven Ks.

On the hitting side, Cloverleaf saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Alyson Croft, who went 2-for-3 with one run and one double.

Cloverleaf's defeat dropped their record down to 7-5. As for Springfield, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 3-5.

Looking ahead, Cloverleaf will venture away from home to take on Coventry at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Springfield, they will face off against Streetsboro at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The Rockets have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 10.2 runs per game on average), something the Spartans will no doubt try to take advantage of.
