Softball Game Preview: Liberty County Bulldogs vs. Franklin County Seahawks

Liberty County has won five straight games at home, while Franklin County has won five straight on the road, but those streaks won't matter much on Tuesday. The Bulldogs will welcome the Seahawks at 7:00 p.m. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (Liberty County 2.8, Franklin County 3.1) so any runs scored will be well earned.

Liberty County is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Thursday. They never let Cottondale get on the board and left with a 10-0 win. Considering the Bulldogs have won 16 matchups by more than five runs this season, Thursday's blowout was nothing new.

Meanwhile, Franklin County sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 6-5 victory over Port St. Joe on Thursday. The win continues a trend for the Seahawks in their matchups with the Tiger Sharks: they've now won four in a row.

Sarah Ham was a major factor while hitting and pitching. She tossed seven innings while giving up three earned (and two unearned) runs off eight hits. Ham was also big at the plate, going 3-for-4 with two doubles, one run, and one RBI. That's the most hits she has posted since back in April.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Micahlyn O'Neal, who went 1-for-3 with one home run and two RBI.

Liberty County has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won 12 of their last 13 contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 20-3 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.4 runs on average over those games. As for Franklin County, their win bumped their record up to 18-7.

Everything went Liberty County's way against Franklin County in their previous matchup last Thursday, as Liberty County made off with a 13-2 victory. Will the Bulldogs repeat their success, or do the Seahawks have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
