Softball Recap: Narraguagus Makes It Nine in a Row at Home

Narraguagus is still undefeated this season after their match against Sumner on Monday, but Sumner came as close as anyone has to beating them. The Knights came out on top in a nail-biter against the Tigers, sneaking past 5-3. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory the Knights have posted since May 28, 2024.

Natalie Stanwood was a major factor while hitting and pitching. She didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits while striking out 14 over seven innings pitched. She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than two hits any time she's pitched this season. She was also big at the plate, going 2-for-3 with one run and one RBI.

In other batting news, Paidyn Cashman and Kaitlyn Grant did most of the damage at the plate: Cashman got on base in three of her four plate appearances with one home run, two runs, and one stolen base, while Grant got on base in all four of her plate appearances with one triple, one stolen base, and one double. That triple marked the first that Grant has hit this season. Lola Worcester was another key player, getting on base in three of her four plate appearances with one stolen base and one double.

Narraguagus pushed their record up to 7-0 with the win, which was their ninth straight at home dating back to last season. As for Sumner, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 3-4.

Looking ahead, Narraguagus will face off against Machias at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday. As for Sumner, they will welcome Bucksport at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday.
