Cheyenne Wells hasn't had much luck against Holly recently, but that could start to change on Friday. The Tigers will head out to face off against the Wildcats at 4:00 p.m. Cheyenne Wells is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 8.5 runs per game this season.
Cheyenne Wells took a loss when they played away from home on Friday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Tuesday. They came out on top against Wiley by a score of 9-5.
Marcus Bogenhagen was a major factor no matter where he played. On the mound, he pitched 2.2 innings while giving up just one earned run off one hit. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than two walks in four consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, scoring a run while going 1-for-4.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Ethen Garay, who scored three runs and stole four bases while going 3-for-3. He has become a key player for Cheyenne Wells: the team is undefeated when he posts at least two runs, but 3-5 otherwise. Trevin Smith also deserves some recognition as he hit his first double of the season.
Cheyenne Wells was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .444. They are a perfect 5-0 when they post a batting average of .375 or better.
Meanwhile, Holly waltzed into their contest on Tuesday with six straight wins... but they left with seven. They put the hurt on the Bobcats with a sharp 19-4 win. The result was nothing new for the Wildcats, who have now won seven matches by six runs or more so far this season.
Like Cheyenne Wells, Holly also got a great game from a two-way player: Truman King. He struck out eight batters over three innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off two hits (and not a single walk). King was also stellar in the batter's box, scoring four runs and stealing two bases while going 4-for-4. That's the most hits he has posted since back in April of 2024.
In other batting news, Holly got a massive performance out of Drayden Williams, who scored two runs and stole four bases while going 2-for-4. Those four stolen bases gave Williams a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Jerry Holdren, who went 1-for-2 with one home run and three RBI.
Holly's victory was their fourth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 8-6. Those home wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 13.3 runs over those games. As for Cheyenne Wells, they now have a winning record of 6-5.
Friday's game might come down to which pitcher can control the ball better. Cheyenne Wells has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .484. However, it's not like Holly struggles in that department as they've averaged .498. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Cheyenne Wells suffered a grim 9-1 defeat to Holly in their previous matchup back in April of 2024. Can the Tigers avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
