Preview: Elkhart Lions vs. Concord Minutemen

Elkhart has enjoyed a four-game homestand but will soon have to dust off their road jerseys. They will take on the Concord Minutemen at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Hopefully Elkhart focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up ten last Saturday.

Elkhart suffered their closest loss yet this season last Saturday. They fell just short of Mishawaka by a score of 48-45. While losing is never fun, Elkhart can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Indiana basketball rankings (they are ranked 346th, while Mishawaka is ranked 70th).

The losing side was boosted by Javeis Hines, who scored 23 points along with six rebounds and five assists. As a matter of fact, that's the most points he has scored all season. The team also got some help courtesy of Trinton Harris, who scored five points.

Meanwhile, Concord came tearing into Thursday's match with four straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 20.5 points) and they left with even more momentum. They walked away with a 51-42 win over Plymouth.

Elkhart's loss was their 12th straight at home dating back to last season, which bumped their record down to 0-11. As for Concord, their win bumped their record up to 10-2.

Elkhart came up short against Concord when the teams last played back in January of 2023, falling 59-46. Can Elkhart avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
