Softball Recap: Homestead Snaps Four-Game Streak of Wins at Home

Homestead dropped their record down to 4-2 on Tuesday, which also ended the team's four-game streak of wins at home dating back to last season. They took a 5-0 hit to the loss column at the hands of the South Adams Starfires. The defeat was just more heartbreak for the Spartans, who fell 3-1 when the teams last met back in April of 2023.

Chelsie Rosine was a force to be reckoned with on the mound despite the final result: she didn't allow a single earned run while striking out eight over 4.2 innings pitched.

At the plate, Homestead saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Trinity Rager, who went 1-for-2 with one stolen base. That stolen base was Rager's first of the season.

As for South Adams, their victory was their 12th straight on the road dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 7-0. The five-run effort marked their lowest-scoring match of the season, but in the end it didn't matter.

On South Adams' side, Addie Baker made a big impact no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run while striking out 12 over seven innings pitched. Those 12 strikeouts gave Baker a new career-high. She was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-4 with two RBI and one double.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Mackenzie Neuenschwander, who went 2-for-4 with one home run and two RBI.

Looking ahead, Homestead will face off against Fort Wayne Concordia Lutheran at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday. As for South Adams, they will host Bluffton at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday. The Starfires' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Tigers have averaged an impressive 7.4 runs per game this season.
