Broad Run has gone 8-2 against Rock Ridge recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Monday. The Spartans will square off against the Phoenix at 6:30 p.m. Broad Run is coming into the match hot, having won their last three games.
Broad Run took a six-run loss the last time they faced off against Stone Bridge, but this time they managed to keep it close and that made all the difference. The Spartans had just enough and edged out the Bulldogs 3-1. That's two games straight that the Spartans have won by exactly two runs.

Anna Weltens was a major factor while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out nine batters over seven innings while giving up just one earned run off three hits. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts any time she's pitched this season. She was also big at the plate, going 2-for-4 with one home run and two RBI.
Meanwhile, after only one run in their last contest, Rock Ridge made sure to put some runs up on the board against Falls Church on Thursday. The Phoenix were the clear victors by a 15-2 margin over the Jaguars. The result was nothing new for the Phoenix, who have now won three games by 11 runs or more so far this season.
Like Broad Run, Rock Ridge also got a great game from a two-way player: Sahasra Abbineni. Throwing, Abbineni tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits. Meanwhile, Riya Cherukuri pitched three innings while giving up just two earned runs off three hits. At the plate, Abbineni went 2-for-3 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one double, while Cherukuri got on base in all four of her plate appearances with three runs, four RBI, and one triple. That triple was Cherukuri's first of the season.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Kyra Young, who went 3-for-4 with four runs, five RBI, and three doubles. Laasya Bandi was another key player, scoring four runs and stealing two bases while going 4-for-4.
Rock Ridge always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .605. They are a perfect 3-0 when they post an OBP of .513 or better.
Broad Run's record now sits at 6-2. As for Rock Ridge, the win got them back to even at 3-3.
Broad Run took their victory against Rock Ridge in their previous meeting back in May of 2024 by a conclusive 13-0 score. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Spartans since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
