Baseball Game Preview: Opp Bobcats vs. Straughn Tigers

For the second straight game, Opp will face off against Straughn. The Bobcats will look to defend their home field on Thursday against the Tigers at 4:30 p.m. One thing working in Opp's favor is that they have posted at least ten runs in their last three matches.

Opp barely beat Straughn the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. The Bobcats put the hurt on the Tigers with a sharp 11-3 win on Tuesday. The Bobcats might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won 11 games by seven runs or more this season.

For Straughn's part, Clark Gay was a force to be reckoned with on the mound despite the final result: he didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits while striking out seven over five innings pitched. What's more, Gay gave up only zero earned runs, the fewest he's had since back in February.

On the hitting side, JT Moreno was cooking despite his team's loss, going 1-for-3 with one home run and three RBI. That home run was his first of the season.

Opp is on a roll lately: they've won eight of their last nine contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 18-4 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 12.2 runs over those games. As for Straughn, their loss dropped their record down to 9-8.
