Softball Recap: McHenry Warriors vs. Dundee-Crown Chargers
McHenry was not able to break out of their rough patch on Monday as the team picked up their third straight loss. They took a 5-2 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Dundee-Crown Chargers. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Chargers this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 7-6 on April 7th.
Natalie Bender spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered four earned (and one unearned) runs on nine hits and racked up eight Ks. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two walks in eight consecutive appearances.
On the hitting side, McHenry saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Hailey Townsend, who went 1-for-3 with one run and one double.
McHenry's record is now 8-11. As for Dundee-Crown, with the win, they broke their three-game losing streak and moved their record to 6-14.
We've got plenty of inter-conference action coming up soon. McHenry will square off against rival Crystal Lake South at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Meanwhile, Dundee-Crown is set to face off against their familiar foe Huntley at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday.
