Softball Recap: Walnut Mustangs vs. Ayala Bulldogs
Walnut extended their losing streak to eight on Thursday, dropping their season record down to 2-17 in the process. They lost 11-0 to the Ayala Bulldogs. Unfortunately, that's the third time they've come up short against the Bulldogs this season, with their most recent loss being a 10-0 defeat on Thursday.
As for Ayala, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won 12 of their last 13 matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 16-2 record this season. The result was nothing new for Ayala, who have now won eight contests by six runs or more so far this season.
For Ayala's part, not much got past Ashlyn Hames, who gave up just a hit to keep Walnut off the board. Hames has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up a single earned run in five consecutive appearances.
On the hitting side, Marisa Dominguez was incredible, going 2-for-4 with four RBI, one run, and one double. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in February of 2024. The team also got some help courtesy of Taelor Walker, who went 3-for-4 with three runs.
We've got plenty of inter-league action coming up soon. Walnut will take on rival Bonita at 3:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Meanwhile, Ayala is set to face off against their familiar foe Diamond Bar at 3:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
