Baseball Recap: Fountain Central Comes Up Short

Fountain Central had lost three straight at home, but on Friday they dropped their record down to 3-13 to make it four. They fell just short of the Lebanon Tigers by a score of 8-6. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest loss the Mustangs have suffered since April 21st.

As for Lebanon, their win ended an eight-game drought on the road dating back to last season and puts them at 2-12. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory they have posted since April 18, 2024.

For Lebanon's part, Jason Garrard looked comfortable as he tossed 3.1 innings while giving up just one earned (and two unearned) runs off three hits. The dominant performance also gave Garrard a new career-high in strikeouts (five).

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Andrew Kaylor, who went 2-for-4 with two runs, one triple, and two RBI. Those two runs gave him a new career-high. Bryce Nelson was another key player, getting on base in two of his four plate appearances with two stolen bases and two runs.

Coming up, Fountain Central will take on Attica at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Lebanon, they are taking a road trip to square off against Noblesville at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday. The Millers will roll in looking for their sixth straight win, something the Tigers surely won't give up without a fight.
