Baseball Game Preview: Cameron Dragons vs. Paden City Wildcats

Cameron is 9-1 against Paden City since April of 2018 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Tuesday. The Dragons will welcome the Wildcats at 5:00 p.m. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Cameron has three straight wins, Paden City has four straight defeats), but none of that matters once you're on the field.

Cameron's pitching crew heads into the match hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Saturday. They blew past WestSide 9-0. Considering the Dragons have won six contests by more than five runs this season, Saturday's blowout was nothing new.

Wes Starcher was a major factor no matter where he played. He didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits over seven innings pitched. Starcher was also big at the plate, going 2-for-4 with three runs, two doubles, and one stolen base. He has become a key player for Cameron: the team is undefeated when he posts at least two runs, but 1-7 otherwise.

In other batting news, Zayde Long was incredible, going 2-for-4 with two runs, one stolen base, and two RBI. Cameron is 5-1 when Long posts two or more runs, but 4-6 otherwise. The team also got some help courtesy of Soier Reed, who went 3-for-5 with two runs.

Meanwhile, Paden City came up short against Webster County on Friday, falling 16-5.

Cameron's victory was their fourth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 9-7. The home wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 10.8 runs over those games. As for Paden City, their loss dropped their record down to 1-6.

Cameron was able to grind out a solid victory over Paden City in their previous meeting back in April of 2024, winning 8-4. Do the Dragons have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Wildcats turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
