Baseball Recap: Canisius Find Success

Canisius won the last time they faced Bishop Timon-St. Jude and things went their way on Thursday too. The Crusaders walked away with a 7-3 win over the Tigers. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Crusaders.

Maxwell Bahr was a major factor no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, tossing 3.1 innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in three consecutive appearances. He was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-3 with two runs and one RBI. Those two runs gave him a new career-high.

In other pitching news, Josh Kandefer looked comfortable as he struck out eight batters over 3.2 innings while giving up just two earned runs off four hits. Those eight strikeouts gave him a new career-high.

Back at the plate, Gavin Eynon was excellent, going 1-for-4 with two RBI, one run, and one double. That's the most RBI he has posted since back in April. Joshua Monti also deserves some recognition as he snagged his first stolen base of the season.

Canisius now has a winning record of 8-7. As for Bishop Timon-St. Jude, their loss was their third straight at home, which dropped their record down to 6-8.

Looking ahead, Canisius will take on Clarence at 11:30 a.m. on Saturday. As for Bishop Timon-St. Jude, they will challenge West Seneca West at 7:30 p.m. on Saturday.
