Softball Recap: Gibson County's Losing Streak Snapped at Four Games

Gibson County can bid farewell to their four-game losing streak dating back to last season thanks to their game on Tuesday. Their pitcher stepped up to hand the Obion County Rebels a 5-0 shutout. The Pioneers have seen this before: they got the W the last time they saw the Rebels, too.

The result came thanks to Hannah Prestininzi's shutout, as she gave up just four hits and racked up seven Ks. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up more than two walks in three consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Andrea Criswell was incredible, scoring a run and stealing Two bases. while going 3-for-4. She also brought in an RBI, marking her first of the season. Another player making a difference was Chloe Allmon, who scored a run and stole Two bases. while going 1-for-3.

Gibson County's first victory this season bumped their record up to 1-3. As for Obion County, their defeat was their fifth straight on the road dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 1-2.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Gibson County will head out to face off against Peabody at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. Peabody has struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed nine runs per game on average), something Gibson County will no doubt try to take advantage of. As for Obion County, they are taking a road trip to challenge Lake County at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. Obion County is facing Lake County at the right time seeing as Lake County is stuck on a three-game losing streak.
