Football Game Preview: Crockett Cougars vs. Liberty Hill Panthers

Crockett is 0-3 against Liberty Hill since October of 2020 but things could change on Friday. The Cougars will be playing at home against the Panthers at 7:30 p.m. Crockett has given up an average of 52.5 points per game this season, but Friday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.

It was a proper cat-fight when Crockett faced off against Pflugerville on Friday. The Cougars were outmatched by the Panthers and fell 62-7. While losing is never fun, the Cougars can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Texas football rankings (they are ranked 1055th, while the Panthers are ranked 382nd).

The losing side was boosted by Trace Silvain, who picked up 73 receiving yards and one TD, and also rushed for 49 yards.all of that, receiving production came thanks to one massive catch

Meanwhile, Liberty Hill had already won five in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 45.4 points) and they went ahead and made it six on Friday. They simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat the Knights 58-7. The matchup was pretty much decided by the half, when the score had already reached 44-0.

Liberty Hill's win came from a few key players Crockett will need to keep an eye on. One of the most notable was Pierre Dylan Belinga, who rushed for 152 yards and a pair of scores on only five carries. His rushing production has been exceptional recently as that marked his fourth straight game with at least 132 rushing yards. Bryce Muchaw was another key player, rushing for 94 yards and one touchdown on only nine carries.

They were just one part of a punishing run game: Liberty Hill was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 600 rushing yards. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their rushing yard total in three consecutive games.

Crockett's defeat dropped their record down to 1-7. As for Liberty Hill, their victory bumped their record up to 6-2.
