Baseball Recap: Owen County Picks Up Fourth Consecutive Win

Owen County waltzed into their matchup on Friday with three straight wins... but they left with four. They were the clear victors by a 19-12 margin over the Augusta Panthers. That's more bragging rights for the Rebels, who also won the pair's last head-to-head.

Michael Smith was incredible, going 3-for-4 with six RBI, two runs, and one triple. Those six RBI gave him a new career-high. Connor Dezarn was another key player, getting on base in three of his five plate appearances with two stolen bases, three runs, and three RBI.

They weren't the only ones making solid contact: Owen County kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 12 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least eight hits in four consecutive contests.

Owen County now has a winning record of 9-8. As for Augusta, they dropped their record down to 1-14 with the defeat, which was their ninth straight at home dating back to last season.

Owen County has already played their next game (against Villa Madonna), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing. As for Augusta, they will take on Pendleton County at 5:30 p.m. on Monday.
