Football Preview: Northridge Grizzlies vs. Timnath Cubs
The Northridge Grizzlies are taking a road trip to face off against the Timnath Cubs at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday. Northridge is coming into the game on a three-game losing streak.
Northridge is headed in fresh off scoring the most points they have all season. They took a 31-26 hit to the loss column at the hands of Niwot on Friday.
Meanwhile, after only seven points in their last matchup, Timnath made sure to put some points up on the board against Greeley Central on Friday. The Cubs blew past the Wildcats 49-6. With the Cubs ahead 35-0 at the half, the contest was all but over already.
This one was won in the trenches and the lion's share of the credit has to go to Mitchell Deangelis and Max Sipperly. Deangelis rushed for 79 yards and two scores while Sipperly rushed for 95 yards and one TD on only seven carries. That's the most rushing touchdowns Deangelis has posted since back in August.
Timnath was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 246 rushing yards. That's the most rushing yards they've managed all season.
Timnath didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off two passes before the game was over. Ivan Hochhalter picked up that interception and then proceeded to rub salt in the wound by taking it back the other way for a touchdown. He got in on the action too, converting a pick into a touchdown.
Timnath now has a winning record of 5-4. As for Northridge, their loss dropped their record down to 2-7.
Northridge came up short against Timnath in their previous meeting back in November of 2024, falling 21-14. Can the Grizzlies avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
