Softball Game Preview: Prince George Royals vs. Powhatan Indians

The Prince George Royals will head out to face off against the Powhatan Indians at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. Prince George is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 14 runs per game this season.

While Prince George's victory against Colonial Heights wasn't quite the blowout it was the last time the pair played, they still came out on top. The Royals had just enough and edged out the Colonials 7-6 on Thursday. The Royals haven't had any issues with the Colonials recently, as the game was their fifth consecutive win against them.

Prince George let Madison Johnson and Riley Hacker run wild. Johnson got on base in all three of her plate appearances with six stolen bases and three runs, while Hacker went 3-for-4 with five stolen bases, two runs, and one RBI. Hacker has been hot, having posted at least one stolen base the last five times she's played. Another player making a difference was Kasey Sulc, who went 1-for-4 with three stolen bases, one run, and one RBI.

Meanwhile, after soaring to 13 runs the game before, Powhatan was a bit more limited in their contest on Thursday. They fell 7-2 to Clover Hill.

Powhatan saw seven different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Mazie Harmon, who went 1-for-4 with two RBI.

Prince George's victory was their seventh straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 6-1. Those home wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they've averaged 11.1 runs this season. As for Powhatan, their loss dropped their record down to 4-4.

Monday's match will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Prince George hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .451. However, it's not like Powhatan struggles in that department as they've averaged .349. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
