Recap: Cedar Creek Cougars vs. Catholic of Pointe Coupee Hornets
It's hard to turn regular season success into postseason wins, a fact the Cedar Creek Cougars can now relate to. They took a serious blow against Catholic of Pointe Coupee on Friday, falling 42-0. Cedar Creek has now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
Catholic of Pointe Coupee's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Cooper Laviolette led the charge by rushing for 94 yards and a touchdown, while also picking up 53 receiving yards. Another player making a difference was Hayden Elliott, who threw for 79 yards and two touchdowns.
Cedar Creek has yet to win a game at home this season, leaving them with a 4-6 record. Those losses could be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they only averaged 4.7 points per game. As for Catholic of Pointe Coupee, the victory was the fourth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 8-3.
Coincidentally, Cedar Creek and Catholic of Pointe Coupee will both be playing Riverside Academy the next time they take the field. Catholic of Pointe Coupee will head out to face Riverside Academy on Friday, while Cedar Creek will head out to face them at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
