Baseball Recap: Gateway Snaps Three-Game Streak of Losses on the Road

Gateway won the last time they faced Overland and things went their way on Tuesday too. The Olympians walked away with an 11-7 victory over the Trailblazers.

Mervin Loya was incredible, getting on base in three of his five plate appearances with three stolen bases, one run, and one RBI. Gateway is 5-1 when Loya posts two or more stolen bases, but 4-6 otherwise. Another player making a difference was Jakob Petersen, who went 3-for-5 with three runs, one stolen base, and one RBI.

Gateway kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 19 hits. That's the most hits they've posted since back in May of 2024.

Gateway's win ended a three-game drought on the road and puts them at 9-7. As for Overland, they dropped their record down to 6-12 with the defeat, which was their third straight at home.

We've got plenty of inter-league action coming up soon. Gateway is set to square off against their familiar foe Thornton at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday. Meanwhile, Overland will take on rival Adams City at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday.
