Softball Recap: Loudonville Redbirds vs. Black River Pirates
After flying high against Lucas on Monday, Loudonville came back down to earth. The Redbirds fell just short of the Black River Pirates by a score of 8-7 on Wednesday. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Redbirds of the 4-3 defeat they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in April of 2017.
Helaina Gray made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and went 2-for-3 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI. Elly Hensel was another key player, going 1-for-3 with two RBI.
Loudonville has traveled a rocky road recently, having lost nine of their last 11 contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 6-15 record this season. As for Black River, they have been performing well recently as they've won ten of their last 12 matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 14-7 record this season.
Loudonville does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Black River, they will challenge Wellington at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday.
