Basketball Recap: Northwest Whitfield Takes a Tough Playoff Loss

It's hard to turn regular season success into postseason wins, a fact Northwest Whitfield can now relate to. They lost to the Monroe Golden Tornadoes on the road by a 62-47 margin on Saturday.

Monroe found their leader in sophomore Kie'Aundria Acree, who dropped a double-double with 33 points and 22 rebounds. Acree's evening made it 50 games in a row in which she has scored at least 16 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Taylor Mckinzy, who almost dropped a double-double with 19 points and nine boards.

Northwest Whitfield's loss dropped their record down to 17-9. As for Monroe, the win was the 16th in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 24-5.

Northwest Whitfield does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Monroe, they will take on Cherokee Bluff on Tuesday. Monroe is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 62.2 points per game this season.
