With a playoff win on the line, Bennington rose to the challenge on Thursday. They came out on top against the Solomon Gorillas by a score of 52-41. Given the Bulldogs' advantage in MaxPreps' Kansas basketball rankings (they are ranked 83rd, while the Gorillas are ranked 257th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Solomon lost despite a true team effort on offense. The best among them was Calvin Mattison, who dropped a double-double with 12 points and 11 rebounds. He is also on a roll when it comes to shooting accuracy, as he's posted one of at least 56% in the last eight games he's played. Carlos Duran was another key player, putting up ten points and four steals.

Bennington has been performing well recently as they've won eight of their last ten games. That's provided a nice bump to their 14-7 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 59.1 points over those games. Solomon is on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 11-10.

Bennington has already played their next match, a 67-56 win against Sacred Heart on the 4th. Solomon does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
