Baseball Recap: Flintridge Prep Takes a Loss

Flintridge Prep fought the good fight in their extra-innings matchup against Polytechnic on Wednesday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They fell just short of the Panthers by a score of 11-10. That's two games in a row now that the Wolves have lost by just one run.

Nicholas Aparicio made the most of his time in the batter's box despite the final result and went 2-for-5 with one home run, four RBI, and one double. He has become a key player for Flintridge Prep: the team is 2-1 when he posts at least three RBI, but 6-9 otherwise. The team also got some help courtesy of Spencer Rolfe, who went 3-for-5 with two runs, one stolen base, and one RBI.

This is the second loss in a row for Flintridge Prep and nudges their season record down to 8-10. Even worse, they were so close both times: the losses came by an average of only one runs. As for Polytechnic, they pushed their record up to 8-12 with the victory, which was their fourth straight at home.

While Flintridge Prep had to take the loss, they won't have to wait long to give it another shot: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 3:30 p.m. on Thursday.
