Softball Recap: Belleville Drops Season-High Score on Darlington

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Belleville). They narrowly escaped with a win as the squad sidled past the Darlington Redbirds 15-13. The victory was a breath of fresh air for the Wildcats as it put an end to their five-game losing streak.

The team relied heavily on Korynn Potter, who got on base in all three of her plate appearances with three runs and one triple. That triple was her first of the season. Another player making a difference was Ava Benash, who went 1-for-2 with two runs and two RBI.

Belleville always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .600. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.

Belleville's win bumped their record up to 2-8. As for Darlington, their defeat was their 11th straight on the road dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 1-9.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Belleville will welcome Cambridge at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. The Wildcats are facing the Bluejays at the right time seeing as the Bluejays are stuck on a seven-game losing streak. As for Darlington, they will host Iowa-Grant at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday.
