Preview: Hebbronville Longhorns vs. Bloomington Bobcats/Lady Cats
The Hebbronville Longhorns will head out on the road to face off against the Bloomington Bobcats/Lady Cats at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday. Hebbronville is hoping to put an end to a three-game streak of away losses.
Last Tuesday, Hebbronville got the win against Bruni by a conclusive 53-33.
Joaquin Gonzales and Oscar Carrillo were among the main playmakers for Hebbronville as the former scored 11 points and the latter scored ten points along with five assists and five steals. Carrillo is on a roll when it comes to steals, as he's now grabbed two or more in the last five games he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Jeffery Shreve, who scored eight points along with nine rebounds.
Meanwhile, even if it wasn't a dominant performance, Bloomington beat Columbia 42-37 on Monday. The victory made it back-to-back wins for Bloomington.
Hebbronville's win ended a three-game drought at home and bumped them up to 7-8. As for Bloomington, their win bumped their record up to 8-5.
Hebbronville didn't have too much breathing room in their game against Bloomington in their previous meeting back in December of 2022, but they still walked away with a 38-34 victory. The rematch might be a little tougher for Hebbronville since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
