Softball Recap: Saguaro's Losing Streak Is a Thing of the Past

Saguaro had to endure a six-game losing streak dating back to last season, but that streak is no more. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 6-4 victory over the Mountain Pointe Pride on Wednesday. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win the Sabercats have posted since March 6, 2024.

The team relied heavily on Alexa Simpson, who scored two runs and stole a base while going 1-for-3. The dominant performance also gave her a new career-high in RBI (two). Another player making a difference was Sophia Chiouinard, who scored a run and stole Two bases. while going 2-for-3.

Saguaro's first victory this season bumped their record up to 1-5. As for Mountain Pointe, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost five of their last six matchups. That's put a noticeable dent in their 5-5-1 record this season.

Saguaro will take on Arcadia in a tournament on Thursday. Arcadia is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 6.9 runs per game this season. As for Mountain Pointe, they will square off against Bourgade Catholic at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday.
