Baseball Recap: Ringgold Wins Going Away Against Uniontown

Ringgold hadn't done well against Uniontown recently (they were 2-7 in their previous nine matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Wednesday. The Rams were the clear victors by a 6-0 margin over the Red Raiders. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest victory the Rams have posted against the Red Raiders since May 12, 2021.

Not much got past Anthony Koziel, who gave up just a hit and racked up 13 Ks to keep Uniontown off the board. Koziel also tossed a walk, which is notable because Ringgold is 5-1 when he allows at most two walks, but 1-7 otherwise.

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Andrew Sprinkle, who went 1-for-2 with one triple, two RBI, and one run. Another player making a difference was Demetri Lowe, who went 1-for-3 with one home run.

Ringgold's win ended a three-game drought on the road and puts them at 6-8. As for Uniontown, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 2-9.

Coming up, Ringgold will face off against California at 4:00 p.m. on Friday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (the Rams 3.4, the Trojans 3.8) so any runs scored will be well earned. As for Uniontown, they will head out to challenge Carmichaels at 4:15 p.m. on Friday. The Mighty Mikes' pitching crew has only allowed 3.8 runs per game this season, so the Red Raiders' hitters will have their work cut out for them.
