Volleyball Recap: Mauston Falls Short of Reedsburg in the Playoffs

Mauston and Reedsburg squared off in some playoff action on Thursday, but Mauston had to settle for second. They fell 3-1 to the Beavers. The defeat continues a trend for the Golden Eagles in their meetings with the Beavers: they've now lost five in a row.

Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-14, 25-14, 26-28, 25-18.

Lillyan Wilke paced Mauston's offense, picking up nine kills. Wilke got some help from Rylea Mehne and her ten assists. Kira Clemens controlled things from the service line, finishing with three aces.

Reedsburg can attribute much of their success to Rhianna Schommer, who had nine digs and four aces. That's the most digs Schommer has posted over her last eight matchups.

Mauston's loss dropped their record down to 23-12. As for Reedsburg, they have been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 18-19 record this season.

Mauston does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Reedsburg, they have already played their next match, a 3-0 defeat against Mosinee on the 25th.
