Baseball Recap: San Jacinto Leadership Academy Drops Season-High Score on Desert Christian Academy

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask San Jacinto Leadership Academy). Everything went their way against the Desert Christian Academy Conquerors on Friday as they made off with a 12-2 victory. This was a revenge game for the Lions: when they faced off against the Conquerors back in March, they had to take a 15-5 defeat.

Joseph Wielinkski made a big impact no matter where he played. On the mound, he didn't allow a single earned run while striking out 11 over six innings pitched. With that strong performance, he is now averaging an impressive 5.2 strikeouts per game. He was also big at the plate, going 1-for-4 with three RBI, one stolen base, and one run. He also put up a double, which was his first of the season.

In other batting news, San Jacinto Leadership Academy let Aiden Westover and Joseph Bracamontes run wild. Westover went 1-for-3 with six stolen bases, two runs, and one double, while Bracamontes got on base in three of his four plate appearances with six stolen bases, one run, and one RBI. Those six stolen bases gave Bracamontes a new career-high. Jonathan McCafferty also deserves some recognition as he scored his first runs of the season.

San Jacinto Leadership Academy always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .543. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.

San Jacinto Leadership Academy's first win this season bumped their record up to 1-10. As for Desert Christian Academy, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost nine of their last ten matchups. That's put a noticeable dent in their 5-11 record this season.

San Jacinto Leadership Academy will have some time to savor their victory since their next game is a little ways off: they'll take on Sherman Indian at 3:15 p.m. on the 28th. As for Desert Christian Academy, they will challenge California Military Institute at 3:30 p.m. on Wednesday. The Conquerors are facing the Rough Riders at the right time seeing as the Rough Riders are stuck on an 11-game losing streak.
