Lakota West lost to Lakota East back in May of 2024, but they didn't allow them the same satisfaction on Wednesday. The Firebirds won by a run and slipped past the Thunderhawks 1-0. The victory was familiar territory for the Firebirds, who have now won three matches in a row.

Lakota West pushed their record up to 15-5 with the win, which was their third straight at home. The home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.0 run on average over those games. As for Lakota East, with the loss, they broke their five-game winning streak and moved their record to 12-8.

Looking ahead, Lakota West will take on Sycamore at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. Lakota East will be paying especially close attention to the Firebirds' game: after the Firebirds face off against the Aviators, they'll take on Lakota East again at 5:00 p.m. on Friday.
