Baseball Recap: Sonoma Valley Gets the Win

Sonoma Valley hadn't done well against Justin-Siena recently (they were 0-9 in their previous nine matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Thursday. The Dragons had just enough and edged out the Braves 2-1. Give some credit to the fans of both teams: the last four times they've met, the home team has come away the winner.

Jack Johnson spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered a run (which was unearned) on one hit. He also tossed no earned runs, which is notable because Sonoma Valley is 4-2 when he allows at most one earned run, but 5-7 otherwise.

On the hitting side, Sonoma Valley's win was truly a team effort as five different players contributed at least one hit. One of them was Colin Buckley, who went 1-for-3 with one run.

The victory got Sonoma Valley back to even at 9-9. As for Justin-Siena, they moved to 13-5 with that defeat, which also ended their four-game winning streak.

Sonoma Valley will have a chance to go back-to-back against the Braves: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 3:30 p.m. on Saturday.
