Baseball Recap: Manchester Academy Beats Deer Creek for Their Sixth Straight Victory

Manchester Academy had already won five in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 10.4 runs) and they went ahead and made it six on Thursday. Their pitcher stepped up to hand the Deer Creek Warriors a 16-0 shutout. That's the second time they've managed to beat them this season, as they also won 10-0 last Tuesday.

The team relied heavily on Jon Parker Dees, who scored four runs while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances. The dominant performance gave him a new career-high in runs. Another player making a difference was Adam Edger, who scored two runs while going 2-for-2.

Manchester Academy's win was their fourth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 18-5. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 4.0 runs on average over those games. As for Deer Creek, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 0-3.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Manchester Academy will welcome Jackson Academy at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Jackson Academy will roll in looking for their 12th straight victory, something Manchester Academy surely won't give up without a fight. Deer Creek will get a bit of extra time to process the defeat as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Central Holmes Christian at 6:00 p.m. on April 1st.
