Soccer Recap: Monte Vista Christian Comes Up Short

Monte Vista Christian managed to keep up with Gonzales until halftime on Thursday, but things quickly went downhill from there. The Monte Vista Christian Mustangs lost 3-0 to the Gonzales Spartans. While losing is never fun, the Mustangs can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' California soccer rankings (they are ranked 1013th, while the Spartans are ranked 342nd).

Monte Vista Christian has been struggling recently as they've lost five of their last six matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 4-9-3 record this season. As for Gonzales, they are on a roll lately: they've won seven of their last eight games, which provided a nice bump to their 11-3-3 record this season.

Coincidentally, both will both be playing Ceiba College Preparatory Academy the next time they take the pitch. Gonzales will head out to face Ceiba College Preparatory Academy at 3:30 p.m. on Monday, while Monte Vista Christian will host them at 5:45 p.m. on Wednesday.
