Basketball Recap: Lisbon Broncos vs. Ellendale Cardinals
The Lisbon Broncos can finally bid farewell to their ten-game losing streak thanks to their game on Friday. They walked away with a 49-36 win over Ellendale. The win was just what Lisbon needed coming off of a 61-36 loss in their prior match.
Lisbon's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Ryatt Wertman led the charge by scoring nine points. The team also got some help courtesy of Kaia Sweet, who scored ten points along with five rebounds and two steals.
Lisbon's win ended a five-game drought at home and bumped them up to 4-14. As for Ellendale, they have been struggling recently as they've lost nine of their last 12 matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 7-9 record this season.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Lisbon's homestand continues as they prepare to take on the Tornadoes at 7:30 p.m. on February 5th. Hopefully Oakes focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 20 on Thursday. As for Ellendale, they won't have much time to rest: their next game is against the Tigers at 1:00 p.m. on February 3rd. Tri-State co-op [Rosholt/Fairmount/Campbell-Tintah] is no doubt hoping to put an end to a nine-game streak of away losses.
